Gameplay Profile:

Hangaku is unusually defensive for a Coalition Unit. Sporting an experimental shield system that blocks almost everything for a time, as well as enough sentry drones, mine launchers and point defense guns to lay down an interlocking field of fire for anything that dares to challenge it - or just come somewhere close, for that matter.

A pair of Hangaku is capable of blocking all but the most determined attack against a position. They are well suited for defending just about anything that needs to be defended, To add insult to their enemy's injury, the Hangaku as close to undetectable as vehicles go with the right loadout. Just assuming something isn't defended could spell disaster for many an attack force.

Unfortunately the Hangaku isn't very well armed against heavier opponent, tactical weapons tend to make short work of any defensive positions and Hangaku isn't an exception to that rule.

Manufacturer: Royal Shipwrights

Operator: Royal Navy of Deklab, Coalition Aerospace force

Lore Profile

The Hangaku is one of the reasons the Star Kingdoms of Deklab continues to exist. During the Reunification Wars Hangaku Squadrons was was nightmare of Coalition Frigate pilot and Carrier captains everywhere. The Casualties among the invasion fleet was so massive that a public outcry forced the Senate to end its campaign against Deklab Worlds, effectively ending the Reunification Wars on that front.

Many Years later the same senate would return to negotiate an export treaty for the famous ship in order fight off the “common enemy of humanity” - the Hunters - after realizing the Deklab fleet is doing much better against the mechanical monstrosities.

The Deklab nobility was initially reluctant to agree to such a deal; however an agreement was quickly made when the Arcturus Industries agreed to export their Independence class in exchange - After much shouting took place in the senate.

Aries Armament was later able to install most its signature stealth technology to the vessels and resold them. The modified Hangaku became popular with any organization that can afford them. They are just as deadly against outlaws on the fringe of colonized space as they are against unwanted alien visitors.
